Co-hosts Robert Meyer Burnett and Mike Bawden talk about THE BOYS return to streaming and the first three episodes of their third season. As you can imagine, Rob has a few thoughts on both the start of the third season and the series overall.

It’s going to be a glorious mess – and we can hardly wait!

by Mike Bawden

THE BOYS returned with the first three episodes of their third season yesterday and the Viceroy of Verisimilitude binged them all before breakfast this morning. LOL! As you can imagine, he has a few thoughts on both the start of the third season and the series overall.

When you take a look at what writers Erik Kripke and Anne Cofell Saunders and the entire production team have done with Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson’s source material and you can make the case that THE BOYS we’re watching on Amazon Prime is going places where the original comic book series did not tread … and we’re loving it.

We discuss the importance of creating compelling characters and making sure that every moment they’re on screen, they’re doing something (or having something done to them) that advances the story. Compare that to some of the other genre shows we’ve discussed lately, and I think you can see where we’re going with all this.

Imagination Connoisseur, ROBB, shares his thoughts on how Star Trek: Discovery handled its casting of Democratic politician, Stacey Abrams, as the president of a united Earth in the show’s finale. Personal politics aside, ROBB seems to feel Star Trek’s producers missed an opportunity to send a message about unity at a time when we could all use it.

Attention Star Command, there seems to be a problem with Buzz Lightyear

ROADTRIPPIN’ co-hosts Robert Meyer Burnett and Mike Bawden respond to letters from listeners proposing a variety of reasons as to why Pixar’s latest animated feature, LIGHTYEAR, didn’t meet expectations during its opening weekend. Was it a result of bad casting, a strained relationship between studios, convoluted marketing or stronger-than-expected competition? No one is sure – but it’s possible the problem runs much deeper than an origin story for an action figure might let on.
